About Smitty

written by admin
Christopher “Smitty” Smith is a Vice President of Business Development for a Silicon Valley manufacturing firm, sales automation developer and Microsoft Excel MVP.  He’s received the MVP award since 2007, and is one of fewer than 150 Excel MVP’s worldwide.
Smitty developed the “Smitticisms” blog as a resource for the many people exploring the powers of Microsoft Excel as an office tool, financial analysis tool, and programming platform.
In a previous life, Smitty was a real-life cowboy, having earned a degree in Ranch Management from Texas Christian University, and worked on ranches from Idaho to Australia.  Unfortunately, two broken backs later (playing semi-pro lacrosse), he settled into a desk job and learned the computer skills he had envisioned being so beneficial to the ranching industry.
He now lives in the midst of the redwood forest in Boulder Creek, California, with his wife and daughter.  He can often be found commuting down to the city on his Triumph Daytona 955i (which gets 55 MPG @ 155 horsepower).
This blog is sure to take some time away from restoring a few old motorcycles, and trying to convince victims friends to go rock and ice climbing with him, so if you live in the Bay Area and are interested in motorcyle riding, Excel or rock/ice climbing, feel free to give him a shout!
Gettin' ready to ice climb!
