Christopher “Smitty” Smith has been a Microsoft Excel MVP since 2007 (one of fewer than 150 worldwide), and enjoys working as a business consultant/developer with Excel and Access, LLC, a boutique consulting firm based in Orange County, CA. E&A specializes in all things Office, ranging from custom solutions to training. They also develop SQL Server/.Net applications, as well as web apps and databases.
Prior to his work with Excel & Access, Smitty was formerly Vice President of Business Development for a small-cap Silicon Valley manufacturing organization, and Sales Manager/sales automation developer for Harte-Hanks Shoppers, a Fortune 500 media corporation.
Smitty developed the “Smitticisms” blog as a resource for the many people exploring the powers of Microsoft Excel as an office tool, financial analysis tool, and programming platform
In a previous life, Smitty was a wanderer, working as a real-life cowboy on ranches in Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas and Australia (somewhere along the way he earned a degree in Ranch Management from Texas Christian University). As well as working as a roughneck/roustabout on drilling and workover rigs in the West Texas oil patch, working on logging crews on Colorado’s Western Slope, etc. Unfortunately, two broken backs later (playing semi-pro lacrosse), and the addition of his lovely bride Cyndi, whom he met in Colorado, he settled into a desk job and learned the computer skills he had envisioned being so beneficial to the ranching industry.
He now lives in the heart of the Bay Area redwood forest in Boulder Creek, California, with Cyndi and their daughter. He can often be found commuting down to Silicon Valley on his Triumph Daytona 955i.
This blog is sure to take some time away from restoring a few old motorcycles, and trying to convince victims friends to go rock and ice climbing with him, so if you live in the Bay Area and are interested in motorcyle riding, Excel or rock/ice climbing, feel free to give him a shout!
