Dr. Paul Nissenson, from CalPoly Pomona’s Mechanical Engineering Department, will be offering a free online Introduction to VBA/Excel Programming course through the university.  The 10-week course begins April 1, with enrollment though April 4, and a final exam available from June 7-11.  Non-CalPoly Pomona students with a passing grade will receive a certificate of completion from CalPoly.

Course Overview:

Introduction to VBA/Excel Programming

In this free 10-week online course, you will learn the fundamentals of computer programming using the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) language in Microsoft Excel.  Although many homework problems deal with mechanical engineering concepts, no prior knowledge of programming or engineering is required to succeed in this course.  You can self-enroll by clicking on the link below.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to get more out of Excel by writing your own computer programs in the VBA language.  Even more importantly, you will understand the logic of programming, enabling you to learn other computer languages rapidly in the future.

Software requirements: for PC’s, Excel 2007 or later.  For Macs, Excel 2011.

Enrollment Period: January 20-April 4
Early preview of course material: March 15
First day of class: April 1
Final Exam: June 7-11 (the Final Exam can be taken any time during this period)
